So be prepared with newsfeed updates of Christmas day engagements, christmas holiday engagements and New years engagements and with that in mined –  here are 7 things that all newly engaged girls need to know.

1. Enjoy the engagement
Live in the moment before you start the wedding planning – which will take over your life. *Insert winky face emoji*

2. Bridesmaids will complain
It’s inevitable – girls and clothes – hair and make up – are such a personal thing to every individual – that it can become quite the task to please everyone. The only way to overcome this – let them pick their own dress and just give them a colour guide.

3. Every one will have an opinion
Every one will have an opinion on your big day. Not every one will like your dress choice, not every one will like your shoes or even your venue. Just remember it’s your big day and it’s what you want.

4.You will now be in full time planning mode
Even if you decide to go for a small low key wedding you will still be all consumed by the planning and the details.

5. You hubby to be won’t be as interested in it as you
It’s kind of a given really isn’t it. Girls have dreamed about their big day since they were playing barbies and acting out the Barbie and Ken wedding. They know the venue, they have an idea on dress and they do not want to meet in the middle. So just be happy that they go along with what they say and do not have an opinion!

6. You will go over budget
It’s inevitable – until your deep into wedding planning, you really don’t know how much everything will cost. You’ve got the big costs such as venue and dress etc and then the smaller costs such a gifts for the bridal party. So everything adds up – be prepared. Saying that you can have a wedding on any budget – £1,000 or £20,000 it can be done.

7. No one likes a bridezilla
At the end of the day it is one day of your life. You will not really remember if the flower arrangement was perfect or if the champagne was perfectly chilled – what you will remember is the moments. The first dance with your new husband, the walk down the aisle with your Dad. The look on your Mums face when she sees you in your dress and the fun that you will have with all your friends and family.

So congratulations to all the newly engaged girls this Christmas season. Enjoy the journey and have a fabulous wedding.
