Initially we thought this would be a tough contest, when Frankie and Bennys is done right, it’s done right, but when they fail, they fails horrendously. However we were Bill’s newbies and just weren’t expecting what we received. Complete and utter burger heaven, but don’t take our word for it – read on and then go and try yourself.
First round – Frankie and Bennys – The Black and Blue Burger
Super fast service – bonus points. Stilton cheese – triple bonus points, Onion Rings – out of this world, Burger relish – in burger heaven. However how was the burger – it was medium – not great and not bad. I was satisfied by what I ate, but not ecstatic. The stilton may have been what saved the day, I mea who doesn’t like cheese? Without it – I don’t know if it would have even made it on to the burger wars page. I have to admit though, they are very hit and miss with their burgers. Very hit and miss.
Round two – Bill’s – The Cheese Burger with Sweet Potato Fries
It’s new in town, everyone is talking about it, everyone is even queueing for it, even us and We. Do. Not. Queue. But apparently for Bill’s we do and boy are we glad that we did. Throw in a group of girls, give them drinks and food and there is usually a constant chatter, our table was silent as soon as the food arrived. No time to talk when there are burgers to be eaten and AMAZING burgers at that. I have to admit I do not think I can remember a burger that good. Not to mention the most amazing sweet potato fries. What a treat.
