Metro Bank Celebrates Silver Sunday

On Sunday 2 October, the UK’s community bank, Metro Bank  will once again honour the elderly by celebrating Silver Sunday, the national day for celebrating older people in the community.

This event is going to provide a chance for young and old alike to meet new people, try new activities and connect with people in the local community.

To mark this special event, 48 Metro Bank stores across England have planned a range of activities and fun games in store for people of all ages.  From Bradford to Brighton stores will offer refreshments including tea, coffee and sweet treats throughout the event and some colleagues will also visit local retirement homes to meet and chat with the residents.

“As a community bank, we are longstanding supporters of Silver Sunday,” Ben Hemmings, Eastbourne Metro Bank’s Store Manager. “More than a quarter of people aged over 70 live alone and this rises to more than a third for those aged over 75. We regularly host events instore and this is a unique opportunity for us to socialise and celebrate with the older residents in our local area. We look forward to welcoming everyone who wants to come along and enjoy some company over a cuppa.”

Eastbourne will be having a games day.
